Tribal Youth and Adults Bring Home First Place Canoe Race Trophies

For the second year in a row, Cow Creek Umpqua Tribal members, both youth and adults, joined canoe teams alongside members of two other Tribes to compete in the canoe races at the 19th Annual Mill Luck Salmon Celebration in late September.

All told, the teams they joined won first place in the Traditional Dugout Canoe Race, first place in both Men’s and Women’s Journey Canoe Races, second place in the Traditional Dugout Canoe Race, and third place in the Youth Journey Canoe Race.
