Dixon Fire Threatens Tribal Homes and Lands
At the time of this writing, the Dixon Fire (formerly known as the Tiller Trail Fire or Rainville Fire) is estimated to be be between 1,000 and 1,500 acres in size, and threatens private, Tribal, and United States Forest Service lands near the Tiller and Drew areas. The Douglas Forest Protective Association, Umpqua National Forest, and structural fire agencies are working together to contain the wildfire.
Approximately 200 structures, including homes and outbuildings, are at Level 1 or Level 2 evacuation status. As of 7 PM on August 10, Level 3 evacuations are in place for all residents on Crume Ranch Lane and Devil’s Knob Road. One residence and three outbuildings have already been lost to the fire. Any residents in the affected area are urged to consult the most current evacuation maps at Oregon Wildfire Response and Recovery and from the Sheriff’s Office.
Tiller Trail Highway remains closed to non-fire traffic. In addition to fire traffic on the roadway, rolling rocks and falling snags have caused traffic concerns.
Discussions are underway about ongoing forest closures in the Tiller Ranger District caused by the Dixon Fire. Please consult information from local authorities for more details.
