COVID booster shots for kids now available

Cow Creek Public Health will begin administering COVID-19 booster shots to kids between ages 5-11 beginning Tuesday, May 31.

The Centers for Disease Controls recommends everyone ages 5 and older receive at least one booster dose following their primary vaccine series (first and second doses of mRNA vaccine).

The CDC also recommends adults age 50 and older receive a second booster shot, as well as people age 12 and old who are moderately or severely immunocompromised.

According to the CDC, someone who is moderately or severely immunocompromised has a weakened immune system due to a specific condition or medication. Click here to visit the CDC website for those specifications.

Anyone may receive a first, second, third or fourth dose of the COVID-19 vaccine with no appointment required from Cow Creek Public Health at the Mobile Vaccine Site located at 2360 NE Stephens Street in Roseburg. The Mobile Vaccine Site is open Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 10AM-1PM, and 2PM-5PM.

COVID-19 cases are increasing across the country once again as multiple strains of the Omicron variant are being transmitted.

Visit the Cow Creek Public Health page for more information about receiving a COVID-19 vaccine and booster.
