Chinook Fishing on the McKenzie River Closed Through the End of 2024

Due to unexpectedly small runs of both wild and hatchery Chinook salmon observed at Leaburg Dam, the McKenzie River is closed to salmon fishing through the end of the year.

PLEASE NOTE: This also applies to Cow Creek Umpqua Tribal Fishing Tags.

This closure aims to prevent putting further strain on the small salmon run, which could jeopardize future salmon populations and conservation efforts.
