Tribal Youth Paddle to Puyallup

Tribal youth from the Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians, the Confederated Tribes of Coos, Lower Umpqua, and Siuslaw Indians, the Coquille Indian
Tribe, and the Confederated Tribe of Siletz Indians all cooperated to man a canoe during the Paddle to Puyallup event this summer.

The trip began in Jamestown, Washington, and ended in Puyallup, Washington, days later, making stops along the way to rest, eat, and occasionally participate in cultural “protocol” celebrations. The Tribal youth paddled the canoe alone, with adults serving as landing crews that moved camping gear, food, and supplies to the next stop.
