Wìli is launching an important project that will help shape and mold the future of our Tribal housing program. Wìli is working with a research firm, Big Water Consulting, to form a Housing Needs Assessment survey for all Cow Creek Umpqua Tribal citizens (regardless of location), as well as the Douglas County community. The information collected will help the Cow Creek Umpqua Tribal government and its programs attract new funding, better plan for current and future Tribal housing programs and improve services and opportunities for Tribal members.
We want to stress that all information will be confidential, and not attached to any names. No one at the Tribal Government will have access to individual responses. Privacy in this project is of the utmost importance, and we want to be respectful of all respondents. In addition, responses to the survey will not immediately impact current services.
This survey is a big step forward for Wìli in determining how we can best support our Tribal citizens who are seeking to improve their living situations and well-being. The survey questions will include, for example, questions about household population, children living in the home, education level, income, and employment status of adult household members. Each of the questions included on the survey is essential. Though they may feel personal, the data each response will provide will help staff understand the program’s starting point, and eventually help all Tribal families succeed on a path to self-sufficiency.
“The Wìli Department is excited to engage with the Cow Creek Umpqua Tribal community to collect information about their lived experiences, housing issues, and community related goals,” says Housing Manager Melinda Sprague. “This needs assessment will help us connect with Tribal families and work together to create a path that leads to meaningful programs and services customized to meet the needs of Tribal families. Thank you for taking the time to complete this assessment and playing an active role in shaping the housing planning process.”
As our thanks, households that complete the survey will receive a $25 Amazon gift card and will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win larger prizes including a TV, Ring doorbell system, Tineco 3-in-1 Wet Dry Vacuum, Ninja Foodi Multi-Cooker, and $200 VISA Gift card.
Tribal member households will get a postcard in the mail around March 1, indicating its time to take the survey. The postcard will also contain a unique survey code and a link to the online survey. Each household will also have the option of completing a paper version of the survey if they prefer (survey can be either picked up in person at the Government Office, or mailed).
Thank you for supporting your Tribal community, the Cow Creek Umpqua Tribe and the next seven generations.
